What’s going to be the next step, now that the mid-terms are over? It seems that most people commenting on this race have taken the position that the mood of the country is not really for the GOP as much as against the current expansion of government. That seems to be correct. The GOP may be looking ascendent on Wednesday, but they’ll be on a short leash. Business as usual isn’t going to cut it.
As a person with conservative leanings, I’m hopeful that the GOP will take tangible steps to pull back the reach of the federal government, not merely reduce the rate of its growth, as has been the tendency since ’94, or even in the 80’s with President Reagan and the GOP Senate. If it looks like the GOP is just going to manage the status quo, I anticipate a bitter struggle for control of the party.
